About Us
handwerk was founded by Gregor Bruhn, a cabinet and furniture maker from Munich, Germany. Gregor immigrated to Canada in 2005 with his Canadian wife Jodi and their young son Elijah. He brought with him the expertise and love of fine craftsmanship that inspire our whole team.
handwerk’s furniture is designed and built to add value to your home and lifestyle. We work with a wide range of materials, from hand selected wood veneers and solid wood to man-made made products like aluminum, glass and acrylic stone.
Working on projects both large and small in scope, handwerk provides:
- Project management, including design, fabrication and a perfect installation of all work
- Custom furniture, kitchens, media centres and home offices
- Moebel by handwerk, available in our online shop
We know that home renovations can be disruptive, so we do our best to minimize inconvenience. Regular communication ensures a clear understanding between you and us. We will complete all work within the prescribed timelines. Our installers are diligent, trustworthy and polite and will leave your home as clean and tidy as we found it.

“I started my woodworking career almost 19 years ago in Munich, Germany. After my formal training, I apprenticed four years in a Munich woodworking shop that was renowned for its high quality work. I then trained for a year in South Tyrol Italy, an area famous for its solid wood furniture. This background proved indispensible when I opened my own woodworking shop in Munich in 1998, which I led until I left for Canada in 2005.”
